Sharjah: A lorry driver burned to death when his vehicle caught fire on Emirates Road towards Sharjah, police said on Saturday.
Major Abdul Rahman Khater, Director of Traffic Awareness Department of Sharjah Police told Gulf News that at about 4pm on Saturday they were alerted about heavy vehicles burning on Emirates road near Al Rahmaniah exit.
“The fire started all of the sudden in the lorry while it was still moving. The driver burned to death,” Major Khater said.
The heavy vehicle was carrying flammable and chemical materials, and firefighters went to the scene and controlled the fire.
“The traffic diverted to Mohammad Bin Zayed road through Umm Al Quwain,” Major Khater added.
