Sharjah: A driver was burnt to death and another injured in a collision between three trucks on Emirates Road between Al Zubair and Al Rahmaiyah in Sharjah on Thursday afternoon, Sharjah Police said.

One truck was speeding and suddenly swerved, leading to a collision with two other trucks, said police.

A 57-year-old Pakistani driver was burnt to death while an Indian driver sustained critical injuries, while the third driver sustained minor injuries. 

On their official Twitter account, police posted footage of the road horror's aftermath, showing the mangled and partly-burnt hauling trucks.

The heavy trucks smashup took place on the E611 road from Al Zubair towards Al Rahmaiyah, before the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club.

The highway was closed as the trucks were cleared away and debris had to be cleared.

Police were still working at the site at 6.45pm on Thursday to clear the road for traffic.

Sharjah Police advised motorists to use alternative routes and to refrain from speeding.
