Dubai: A warehouse in Ras Al Khor caught fire on Sunday morning, sending thick black smoke in the air.

A spokesperson from Dubai Civil Defence said they received a call about the fire at the warehouse at around 11:23am.

Teams from five fire stations were sent to put out the fire that broke out near the Nissan Service Centre in Ras Al Khor. “There are no injuries reported,” the Dubai Civil Defence spokesman said.

Thick plumes of smoke were seen as far as Dubai Mall, said witnesses.

A spokesperson from the Dubai Civil Defence said that the fire was contained at around 5:15pm and that the cooling process is ongoing.

He added that the fire hit two warehouse storage complex that contained smaller storage areas for different companies.

“Eleven of the storage areas were damaged by the fire, and the teams managed to save 11 others,” he said. A storage yard was also damaged by the fire.

Lt. Colonel Ebrahim Abdul Rahman Saif from Al Rashidiya fire station led the fire fighting operation.

Meanwhile, another fire broke out in a car near Al Safa park at 1:08pm, he said, adding that there were no injuries reported.

The fire was put out by a team from Al Manara fire station and was controlled by 1:18pm.
