Dubai: Civil Defense was at the scene of a fire that erupted in a foods factory on Saturday afternoon behind Bowling Center in Al Quoz, Dubai.

Civil Defense refused to divulge the details of the fire that took place at the Unikai Foods international but said they were still dealing with it. “A proper investigation would take place after the fire is extinguished,” a firefighter told Gulf News.

A crowd had gathered to watch the firefighters trying to extinguish the blaze. A long queue of ambulances, firefighter trucks and Dubai Police vehicles were lined on the narrow two-way road towards the scene.

According to onlookers, the fire erupted from the Unikai Foods International at around 12:30pm.

“I was on my way to the midday prayers when I saw the smoke billowing out,” Ashraf A said. “This is the third time a fire breaks out from factories in the area. The fire started just after noon,” he said.

Paramedics at the scene said no one was injured but matters would become clearer after the fire was extinguished.

“We came here shortly after firefighters arrived. They were already busy trying to stop the fire from spreading. So far we haven’t had any injuries or deaths,” a paramedic told Gulf News. “But we’ll know for sure after Civil Defense manages to snuff the fire in the building. Hopefully no one has been injured by the blaze.”
