Khor Fakkan: An Emirati man rescued two Filipinos from drowning after their jet ski overturned at a beach in Khor Fakkan on Saturday afternoon.
Othman Al Naqbi, a Khor Fakkan resident, told Gulf News he was driving in his car close to the beach at around 4.15pm when he heard loud screaming coming from the sea.
Al Naqbi, said: “I saw the couple in the sea water battling the waves and their jet ski away from them, they were already wearing lifejackets but asking for help.
“I removed my clothes and called 999 to inform Police about the incident, then I entered the sea despite having serious injuries in my shoulder and brought them ashore to safety."
Al Naqbi managed to save the couple and they were given first aid and taken to hospital for a medical check-up.
Al Naqbi was honoured by Sharjah Police for his heroic and humanitarian act.
Brigadair Ali Saif Al Nadas, Director of external areas police department, lauded the efforts of the brave man and honoured him for his courage and prompt response.
