Fujairah: An Emirati family, hospitalised with food poisoning on Wednesday, was released from hospital on Thursday.

All eight members of the family were taken to Fujairah hospital after eating at a restaurant.

They were transferred to the hospital’s emergency section after complaining of nausea, dizziness and vomiting, an official at Fujairah hospital told Gulf News.

The family, from Fujairah, told hospital staff they had eaten a meal at a popular restaurant in the emirate that night.

A medical report confirmed the family had eaten something spoiled which affected them

The entire family was discharged on Thursday after their condition improved.

A similar incident took place in Abu Dhabi last Saturday when around 37 patients were admitted to Marfa Hospital at Al Gharbia (Western Region) in a suspected case of food poisoning.

The food poisoning occurred after Al Marfa residents attended a wedding on Friday.

Guests suspect food served at the wedding, which had been catered by a restaurant in Bani Yas, was the source of the poisoning.

Health officials have called for action from the main authorities concerned after a recent spate of similar incidents across the UAE, some causing death.
