Dubai: Dubai Police have helped to reunite a daughter with her parents after a family dispute because she married a man outside the country without her parents’ consent.

Lieutenant Colonel Sultan Abdullah Al Awis, Deputy Director at Naif Police station said the Asian family sought their help after they read about Dubai Police humanitarian efforts to solve family problems.

Lt Col Al Awis said the issue started some three years back, when the daughter married a man without their consent and the parents cut ties with their daughter.

A team of police officers sat with the parents and the couple and helped solve the dispute despite huge differences. “The main problem was between the father and his son-in-law because both of them refused to change their stance. But we managed to resolve the issue and encourage the daughter to take care and support her family,” he added.

Dubai Police said that it was a touching moment when the mother and the daughter met each other after three years.

The family thanked Dubai Police for their help said they read in newspapers and on social media platforms about its efforts to help solve family problems on humanitarian grounds.

Lt Col Al Awis said that Dubai Police have a programme called ‘Follow up with the Victim’ to provide support to the victims in various cases or even help solve disputes arising out of social problems, “The programme provides legal advice to the victims and help resolve the social issues without a need to going to the courts. We have helped resolve many cases since start of this programme at the Naif Police station a year ago.
