Dubai: The first batch of officers trained to respond to emergency calls displayed their skills at their graduation ceremony at Al Rawia training field.

Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Commander-In-Chief of Dubai Police, witnessed the graduation ceremony of 52 officers from various police departments who finished their training in responding to emergency situations that pose a threat to national security.

Maj-Gen Al Merri stressed the importance of developing the skills of the officers by organising training courses and workshops to improve the security system in Dubai.

Brigadier Jamal Salim Al Jallaf, deputy director of Administrative Affairs Department and director of the First Response Committee for emergency calls, said the course is a first of it kind which was established to face disaster and emergency crises in a professional way, minimise casualties and improve the response time from 12 minutes to four by 2021.

He said the training course will be followed by more advanced courses to develop the skills of the graduates.

The ceremony was attended by Major-General Mohammed Saif Al Zafein, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operational Affairs at Dubai Police; Major-General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs; Major-General Ahmad Mohammad Bin Thani, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Ports Affairs; Major-General Al Sallal Saeed Bin Huwaidi Al Falasi, Director of the Dubai Police Department of Administrative Affairs; and directors of other departments and police stations with the sponsors.

The ceremony ended with the graduates displaying their skills such as driving vehicles in different situations and shooting.
