Dubai: The father of an eight-year-old boy, who tweeted his son’s wish to be a police officer, was overwhelmed when Dubai Police contacted him asking him to bring his boy to their headquarters to get his police uniform and enjoy a tour of the building.

Eisa Ali Al Beloushi, Emirati father of Abdullah, tweeted last week a video of his son asking police to grant his wish that he could have his very own Dubai Police uniform as he already has the military uniform.

“I have a request my father. I have many uniforms but I need to have Dubai Police uniform,” Abdullah said in the video.

His father tweeted the video to the Dubai Police twitter account which asked him to send his number and after 24 hours, he received a call from Dubai Police asking him to come to get his son’s new uniform.

The father, who is based in Ras Al Khaimah, was surprised when a tailor visited them and took the measures of his son and on July 27, he took his son to Dubai Police headquarters to get the uniform while on a tour.

Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri welcomed the boy and handed him the uniform in the presence of Amna Al Banna, Director of Social Media Networks Department in Dubai Police.

“Maj Gen. Al Merri ordered us to make the wish of Abdullah come true and we contacted him and took his measurements and prepared the official uniform for him and gave him a first lieutenant rank. It is part of our strategy to spread happiness in society, especially for our children,” Al Banna said.

The boy, who is in Grade 4 in a Ras Al Khaimah school, was beaming after he donned the uniform and pulled himself up to a desk.

His father posted more videos about his son while walking in police headquarters with his uniform before heading back to Ras Al Khaimah.

“Thank you, Dubai Police,” Abdullah said at the end of the video.
