Dubai: Dubai Police have broken the Guinness World Record of having the fastest police car in the world, a Bugatti Veyron.

A delegation from the Guinness World Records met Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Dubai Police chief, and handed him the Guinness certificate during the 11 Best Police Practices Forum on Monday.

The Dubai Police’s supercar beats the US police patrol, a Lamborghini which has a maximum speed of 360 kmph.

Bugatti Veyron has a top speed of 407 kmph, and the 16-cylinder car boasts 1,200 horsepower, allowing it to reach 100 kmph in 2.5 seconds.

The car is the jewel in the crown of the force’s fleet of luxury cars, which Dubai Police use to promote their image and to encourage greater interaction with the public.

The cars enhance the force’s presence at landmark tourist sites such as Burj Khalifa, JBR and the Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Boulevard,

The police force also has a Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4, Aston Martin One-77, Bentley Continental GT, Ferrari FF, Audi R 8, Nissan GTR, Mercedes SL 63 and the Maclaren MP4-12C.
