Dubai: A man reportedly died at Noor Bank Metro station in a suspected suicide case on Wednesday afternoon.

Noor Bank Metro Station on Shaikh Zayed Road was temporarily shut down for one hour following the incident, which was reported to authorities at around 2pm.

Dubai Police rushed to the scene and quickly cordoned off the area where the man’s body was found.

An eyewitness told Gulf News that he was close to the station at the time of the incident and had seen a number of Dubai Police cars parked outside.

“People standing close to the Metro station were saying that a man had committed suicide inside the Metro station, and this is why so many police were present,” said Rajeev V., who works nearby.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) took to twitter after the incident announcing the temporary closure of the Noor Bank Metro station to its customers.

“RTA announces a temporary closure at Nour Bank Metro station. Bus service has been provided to connect the affected Metro stations,” the RTA wrote.

RTA tweeted an hour later that the Dubai Metro service had resumed its normal operation. “#notice: Dubai Metro service is now back to normal at Nour Bank Metro station. Thanks for your cooperation.”

Dubai Police were not immediately available for a comment about the incident.
Way back in 2012, an expat worker committed suicide on the Metro track near the Jumeirah Lake Towers station.

Police said the 36-year-old had been under the influence of alcohol and had used the emergency fire exit to get down to the track.
