Ajman: Civil Defence personnel used a drone to locate the body of an Arab man who drowned off the Corniche here, an official said on Tuesday.

The body was retrieved from the sea by a maritime rescue team of Ajman Civil Defence, Colonel Nasser Rashid Al Zirri, Director of Media and Public Relation Department at Ajman Civil Defence, said

Col Al Zirri said that the operations room received a call on Monday at around 12.20pm about a drowning incident near the Ajman Corniche. sea.

The rescue team started a search operation and scanned the area using a drone and found the body shortly, Col Al Zirri said.

He said the department will also use drones in firefighting and rescue operations in future.

Col Al Zirri urged beachgoers not to swim in unsafe places or after dark and to follow beach guidelines.

He also called on parents to keep an eye on their children at the beach and not allow them to swim where there are strong currents.

Meanwhile, in Fujairah, the body of a 65-year-old man was found floating off Rol Dadna beach in Fujairah last Thursday.

Brigadier Mohammad Ganem Al Kaabi, Commander-in-Chief of Fujairah Police, told Gulf News that the police operations room received a call around 2.30pm about a dead body floating near the beach behind Radisson Hotel in Rol Dadna in Dibba Fujairah.

The body was retrieved and sent for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, he said.

Brig Al Kaabi said the deceased was an Asian man and has been identified as A.A.K. There were no signs of foul play.
