Dubai: Rescuers had to cut through steel to extricate two truck drivers who were left trapped inside their truck cabins after their vehicles collided head on on a dirt track along the Dubai-Al Ain Road, police said on Thursday.

Colonel Ahmad Atik Bu Ruqaiba, deputy director of the search and rescue department at Dubai Police, told Gulf News that one of the drivers was seriously injured while the other sustained moderate injuries.

He said they received a call about major accident between two trucks on a sandy track leading to a landfill on Dubai-Al Ain Road.

“The accident happened at 8.58am on Wednesday and the two drivers were trapped inside their cabins. We used hydraulic cutters to extricate the drivers from the cabins,” Colonel Bu Ruqaiba told Gulf news.
