Her eight-year-old son continues to battle for his life in the intensive care unit of Al Dhaid Hospital, an official at Al Dhaid Hospital told Gulf News.

The victims’ father arrived in UAE on Sunday afternoon as he was outside the country at the time of the incident

He is working to finish the procedures to repatriate the bodies of his children to Egypt. The mother was informed about the death of her children and she took it well, the official said.

“This is the will of Almighty Allah she told the official who informed her about the demise of her three children,” the official said.

As Gulf News reported yesterday, a speeding truck rammed into a family car at Al Weshah interchange in Al Dhaid on Friday, killing three siblings, including two teenagers, instantly, while seriously injuring two more siblings and their mother who was driving the car.

According to a senior Sharjah Police official, the truck jumped the red light and hit the car in the middle of the intersection, before dragging it down to the concrete median on the road.

The car, which was occupied by five children and their mother, was badly mangled and a rescue team of the Civil Defence had to use specialised equipment to cut open the vehicle to remove the victims who were stuck inside.

The mother and two children were rushed to Al Dhaid Hospital while the three other children, identified as A.M.A., 14; A.M.A., 13; and S.M.A., 6, were pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.

Colonel Haran Mubark Al Jazai, acting director of police in the Eastern Region of Sharjah, said that the accident occurred at the Al Weshah intersection in Al Dhaid on Friday at 1.55pm and a road examination showed the truck driver, who caused the accident, was speeding and jumped the red light

“The truck collided with the vehicle occupied by the Egyptian family and the vehicle was dragged by the truck on to the concrete barrier, which led to the death of three and serious injury to three others,” said Col Al Jazai.

Al Weshah intersection falls under the industrial area of Al Dhaid where a busy truck road meets E55, which connects Al Maliha with Al Dhaid.

Meanwhile, Brigadier Saif Mohammad Al Ziri, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, announced on Sunday that Sharjah Police, in cooperation with the departments concerned in the emirate, will improve the Sharjah-Maleha Road by adding a third lane and removing the concrete barrier which has led to many fatal accidents.
