Sharjah: A total of 642 fines were issued in the first half of this year by Sharjah Police to the motorists who parked in spaces allocated for people with special needs, fire hydrants and ambulance parking.

Major Rashid Al Fardan, director of Traffic Engineering section in Patrols and Traffic Department at Sharjah Police, said: “Motorists who are using such parking spaces will face Dh1,000 fine and six black points. We are doing our best to protect the rights of determined people by educating the public,” Major Al Fardan said.

He also warned against misusing special needs permits by giving it to other people or parking at the spots meant for them for a long time. “Misusing the permits or occupying the parking spots cause suffering for the people of determination as they will search for long times for empty parking or they will park in areas far from their destination. motorists should know that these spots are not for them to park and they are taking the right of another person who is in need for this spot,” he added.
