Ras Al Khaimah: Ten tourists were rescued by RAK Police Air Wing after becoming lost on a mountain on Saturday.   

Brigadier Dr Mohammad Saeed Al Hamidi, director-general of the General Directorate of Central Operations at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said police received a call on Saturday at around 5.30pm informing them of the stranded tourists.

The tourists said they could not find the way back to their cars.

A fully equipped helicopter with a number of rescuers was sent out to reach the stranded tourists. 

The climbers were located  at around 2am and taken to hospital for medical check-ups.

Brig.Dr. Al Hamidi said those who wish to climb mountains must exercise caution.

He said the mountainous areas are very rugged and special coordination must be carried out with the authorities to ensure safety.
