'Iraq will not be used as war base'
Iraq's foreign minister has stressed that his country will never be used as a base for "hostile acts" against neighbouring countries.
Damascus: Iraq's foreign minister has stressed that his country will never be used as a base for "hostile acts" against neighbouring countries.
Hoshyar Zebari was visiting Syria on Tuesday for the first time since last month's cross-border US raid on a Syrian village.
Syria's official news agency Sana reported that Zebari and Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Al Moallem discussed the raid that Damascus says killed eight people. US officials say the raid targeted an Al Qaida figure.
The two also discussed a US-Iraqi draft security pact that would see US troops in Iraq for three more years.
Sana said Al Moallem voiced his appreciation for the Iraqi government's commitment to "guarantee" that Iraq would not be used a base for attacks.

Let us hope for peace world wide, I think these leaders cannot commit to anything. I hope the US President-elect Barack Obama will bring peace to the Middle East.
