Khartoum: Sudan and eastern rebels are set to sign a landmark peace accord on Saturday.

The signing of the agreement between the Khartoum government and the Eastern Front, a coalition of rebels, will be held in Asmara.

Chief government negotiator Mustafa Osman Ismail said that the final protocol on power-sharing had been agreed upon.

The deal would be the third peace agreement signed by Khartoum with rebel groups in less than two years.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit and Arab League Secretary General Amr Mussa are expected to attend the signing.
