Nairobi: Two kidnapped employees of the UN World Food Program have been released, a spokesman said on Monday.
The two Somali UN workers had been conducting a nutritional survey near Balad when they were kidnapped on Sunday, said spokesman Peter Smerdon.

It was not clear if ransom was paid for the workers' release.

Eleven aid workers, however, still remain in captivity following a series of attacks on the humanitarian community in Somalia.
