Ramallah: A Palestinian woman was shot dead by mistake and 50 other Palestinians suffered various degrees of injuries during celebrations across the Gaza Strip and the West Bank to celebrate the Palestinian victory in the war with Israel.

Once the ceasefire between the resistance forces in the Gaza Strip and Israel went into effect at 7:00 pm Tuesday, thousands of Palestinians poured into the streets to celebrate what they termed a decisive victory over Israel.

Al Shifa’a Medical Complex in Gaza announced that Ranza Al Nimrah, 19, dead after she was hit in the chest by a bullet during Gazan celebrations which featured guns being fired in the air.

Scores of other Palestinians suffered different types of injuries also caused by live ammunition.

Al Shifa’a announced that two wounded Palestinians were in critical condition, while the others were hospitalized.

The Gaza Interior Ministry has categorically rejected firing into the air in celebration, urging the residents of Gaza to strictly ban the practice. The ministry statement said that it was the right of the Palestinian public to celebrate the victory of the Palestinian armed resistance, but that the celebrations should not involve live fire as it poses serious threat to the general safety of the Palestinian public.

In Ramallah, Hebron and Nablus, several Palestinians were hospitalized as they suffered burns in different parts of their bodies while shooting fireworks into the sky to celebrate the victory. Although fireworks are strictly banned in the Palestinian territories, huge quantities of fireworks are sold secretly. Israeli military forces have also strictly banned the importation of fireworks into the Palestinian territories as fireworks have been used against the Israeli armed forces in clashes. For example, in the occupied east Jerusalem and other cities of the West Bank Palestinian youth have replaced the rocks and stones once thrown at Israeli military forces with fireworks.
