Ramallah: The Palestine Wildlife Society announced on Sunday that Palestine was admitted to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as a full member.
Emad Al Atrash, Executive Officer of Palestine Wildlife Society, said in a statement that the society received a letter from Geneva stating that the IUCN has approved Palestine as a full member.
He said that the Palestinian attempts to join the IUCN started in 2005 when it was granted an observer status the next year (2006).
Al Atrash said that the new development comes after Palestine was admitted to the Unesco last year.
