Occupied Jerusalem: The father of an Israeli soldier abducted by Lebanon's Hezbollah in 2006 said on Monday he had been told that a prisoner swap is close.

Germany is mediating a prisoner swap for Eldad Regev and another Israeli soldier.

"We had a meeting with (ambassador) Ofer Dekel and he…told us in general terms that there is about to be a deal," Zvi Regev, Eldad's father, told Israel Radio.

He said the meeting with Dekel was two weeks ago.
