Ramallah: The Israeli bulldozers backed by a huge number of security forces demolished on Wednesday a small village near the city of Nablus, after the forces declared the village as a military zone, allowing nobody to enter the area, while on the other hand the Palestinian National Authority announced it will rebuild the village at the earliest.

The forces demolished the entire village of Tana, including the houses, school, barns and other facilities but spared the village mosque.

Jibrin Al Bakri, Nablus Governor, said the Palestinian Government will rebuild the village as soon as possible to enhance the confidence of the village’s residents.

This is the second time the village of Tana was demolished by the Israeli forces in less than a year.

Al Bakri said Israel was adopting a demolishing strategy targeting the blocks of Palestinian residents to make them homeless.

The Palestinian authorities urged the international community to act instantly to stop Israel from attacking the civilians, as the international agreements and conventions call for the protection of the civilians and not demolishing their homes, facilities and forcing them lose their social and economic security.

The majority of the Tana residents are shepherds who raise cattle and strictly depend on the barns in their lives. The residents inhabited the village early in 1940s and started building their houses.

The agricultural land of the residents of the Tana village was basically targeted by the Israelis as it is located beside the agricultural Israeli colony of Mahurah in the West Bank.

The Israeli forces did not spare the school which was still under construction. The PNA started the construction of the school to give the village children a chance to get the necessary education.

Ghassan Doghlous, who is in charge of the Israeli colonisation in the northern parts of the West Bank, said a number of Israeli bulldozers escorted by huge forces raided the city, declared it a military zone and started a wide demolishing operation.
The Israeli forces did not spare even the tents provided to the village residents by the Red Cross after the first demolishing about a year ago.

Officials from the near by Nablus and Beit Foreek told Gulf News that no body was allowed to enter the village and that the Israeli forces declared it a military zone. The sources said that the Israeli forces claimed they were implementing an order from the Israeli Higher Justice Court.

Commenting on the demolishing of Tana, Maher Ghonaim, the Palestinian State Minister for Colonisation and Wall Affairs, said that the position of the Palestinian National Authority and the Palestinian public is clear and that they will never stop building and construction on their lands.
“This is a struggle for wellbeing of the people, where the Palestinian National Authority will enhance the steadfastness of the public,” he said. “We will rebuild whatever the Israeli forces and bulldozers have demolished,” he added.
