Gaza City: At least two Hamas fighters were killed in a pre-dawn Israeli air strike on Saturday as clashes between Israel and Palestinian fighters continued.
The Israeli army could not immediately comment on the incident, in which another four people were wounded.
Witnesses said dozens of Israeli tanks have entered eastern Gaza Strip, where violence between Hamas fighters and Israeli troops escalated in the last three days.
Israel has killed more than 30 Palestinians in Gaza since Monday, including one fighter and a civilian in a missile strike on Friday morning.
The Israeli army says it is targeting Gaza fighters who have fired more than 110 rockets into the Jewish territory in the last three days alone.
In response to the cross-border rocket fire, Israel tightened its closure of the Gaza Strip on Friday, preventing humanitarian supplies from getting in, officials said.
Also on Friday, an Israeli missile strike destroyed Hamas' Interior Ministry in Gaza City, causing up to 20 casualties.
