Gaza City: With no ceasefire in sight, Israel continued bombing Gaza on Friday, a day after killing a top Hamas commander.

The Israeli army also allowed Palestinians and foreigners living in Gaza to leave.

Army spokesman Peter Lerner says nearly 300 Palestinians are pouring through the Israeli-controlled Erez crossing.

He says the Palestinians hold citizenship from a number of other countries, including the US, Russia, Turkey and Kazakhstan.

The death toll in days of clashes between Israel and Hamas has reached at least 420, according to medics.

The Israeli police were on alert as Hamas called for a "day of wrath" and "massive marches" on Friday in Occupied Jerusalem and in the West Bank.

Israeli planes and naval guns staged more than 50 attacks on Thursday and Hamas sent more rockets deep into Israel.

Israeli jets also fired missiles on the home of Hamas's Nizar Rayan in the Jabaliya refugee camp, killing him and his family. Hamas warned that Israel would regret its attacks.
