Ahmadinejad brands Israel backers war criminals
Tehran: Iran's hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad yesterday branded Western supporters of Israel as "war criminals" and vowed they would soon be tried in Palestinian courts. "The ones who openly support the occupying regime of Quds [Jerusalem] must know their names will be on the list of war criminals and in the near future will be put on trial in Palestinian courts," the firebrand president told a news conference. "Why have you equipped the occupying regime of Quds with atomic weapons?" he said, responding to mounting Western pressure over his own country's disputed nuclear programme.
Sharon condition 'serious but stable'
Occupied Jerusalem: Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon remains in "serious but stable" condition, a spokesman for Hadassah hospital where he is being treated said yesterday. "The condition of Prime Minister Sharon remains serious but stable," spokesman Ron Krumer said, making no reference to increasingly concerned reports about the premier's condition carried by the Israeli broadcast media.
Soldier hurt as Jewish colonists riot
Occupied Jerusalem: An Israeli soldier was lightly wounded yesterday when scores of Jewish colonists rioted in the heart of the flashpoint West Bank city of Hebron, the police and army said. "The rioters were hurling rocks at Palestinian homes in the neighbourhood of Abu Sneina" just south of the city centre, the army said.
