Hamas trying to 'torpedo' Mideast peace talks - Cheney

Occupied Jerusalem: US Vice President Dick Cheney says Hamas, with support from Syria and Iran, is trying to "torpedo" peace between the Palestinians and Israel.

Meeting reporters on Monday after having breakfast with the Israeli prime minister, Cheney said, "It is clearly a difficult situation, in part, because I think it's true, there's evidence that, Hamas is supported by Iran and Syria and that they're doing everything they can to torpedo the peace process."

Cheney also met with Palestinian leaders while in the region.

He said he talked with the Palestinians about their effort to urge reconciliation between moderate and militant Palestinians.
