Dubai: The Arabic version of the Turkish drama series Ayrilik (farewell), the Turkish version which caused tensions between Turkey and Israel, will be aired from tomorrow.

When the series was first shown on Turkey's state television in October, Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman summoned the Turkish ambassador to complain about the series. He said it was inciting anger over Israeli human rights abuses in Palestine.

The drama, to be aired on MBC 1 and MBC 4 from March 20, is set in current day Gaza against a backdrop of the brutality of the occupation and military incursions.

Israel mostly objected to the scenes showing its army killing civilians and children and demanded the series be taken off the air.

Political analysts said there were indications of a political crisis between the two countries, which scored the highest viewing rates in the history of Turkish drama.

The series, titled Sarkhat Hajar' (a stone's scream) in Arabic, portrays the Palestinian reality in the occupied lands, where many scenes where shot.

In Turkey, the series raised the sympathy of viewers and increased awareness about the Israeli violations, conveyed through daring and skilful scenes in the drama.

Throughout the 20 episodes of the series, viewers will get to see Israeli oppression against the elderly, women and children in a story that takes place in Palestine and Turkey.
