Ramallah: The Khalifa Bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation has sponsored Palestine’s biggest mass wedding planned for December 6.

At the event, 200 Palestinian grooms will tie the knot in Jericho in the West Bank.

The mass wedding is to benefit those from refugee camps. Most of them have been engaged for years but have not been able to hold their weddings due to financial hardship.

Palestinian youth in the refugee camps suffer from unemployment and worst financial conditions.

The Executive Office of the Palestinian Refugees in the West Bank has branded this mass wedding as “Palestine’s biggest national wedding party.”

Set to coincide with UAE’s 42nd National Day, which is celebrated on December 2, the expenses for the event will be covered by the Foundation.

Jamal Abu Al Lail, the General Coordinator of the mass wedding, said that the office is almost finished registering the couples and that a total of 200 grooms and 200 brides have been registered.

“The mass wedding will be held at the Jericho Intercontinental and preparations are underway,” he told Gulf News.

“Senior Palestinian and UAE officials are expected to attend the mass wedding,” he said.
