Gaza: Palestinian militant groups have blamed Israel for the killing of Hezbollah's military leader Imad Mughniyeh.

Hamas said it considered the assasination a crime and said it would retaliate if Israel tried to kill any of its leaders.

A spokesman for the Al Aqsa Martyr's Brigade, the armed wing of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement also blamed Israel

A statement released added: "The stamp of the criminal (Israel's defence minister, Ehud) Barak is on this cowardly operation, for which, god willing, he will personally pay a heavy price."

Israel has said it was not involved in any way in the killing of Hezbollah number two Mughniyeh, who was killed by a bomb in Damascus on Wednesday.
