Beirut: Security and military officials say a bomb went off in a Hezbollah stronghold in southern Lebanon, wounding at least three people.

The officials say the explosion occurred in the village of Kfar Fila in an area known as a stronghold of the Shiite militant group.

The region is north of the Litani River and far from the border with Israel. It's not part of a volatile border zone in which Hezbollah is banned from having weapons under a U.N. resolution that ended the 2006 war between the militant group and Israel.

The officials said Wednesday's bomb exploded at the entrance of a building and wounded three students who were waiting for their school bus.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
