Amman: Two US journalists released by Syrian authorities said they were "kidnapped and taken by force into the Syrian territory", according to a newspaper report on Friday.
Taylor Luck and Holli Chmela arrived in Jordan on Friday after Syrian authorities handed them over to the US embassy in Damascus.
The two went missing on October 1 while in Beirut. The Syrian Foreign Ministy said on Thursday that the two had entered Syria "illegally" and had no entry visas.
The pair told the Jordan Times that they were "kidnapped by a taxi driver and an accomplice" who were supposed to take them to the Lebanese-Syrian border to get visas.
Luck said the military pulled over their taxi and took their belongings. They said they did not reveal their profession but told authorities they were tourists.
Luck said they were taken to "a prison, where they both were held for eight days."
