US postpones handover of control of Iraq's Diwaniya province
The US has postponed the scheduled handover of control of an Iraqi province to Iraq's security forces.
Baghdad: The US has postponed the scheduled handover of control of an Iraqi province to Iraq's security forces.
The announcement was made on Monday, but came with no explanation.
A new date for the handover has also yet to be set.
Control of the Diwaniya province had been expected to be given to government forces.
Local officials say the move was down to a lack of coordination between the central Iraqi government and US forces.
