Baghdad: Five years after the invasion in Iraq, the death toll of US soldiers has risen to 4,000, the US military announced on Monday.
Four US soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb late on Sunday bringing the total number to 4,000, the military said in a statement.
One soldier was also wounded in the attack, which occurred when the bomb exploded near the soldier's vehicle in southern Baghdad.
The latest death toll count comes days after the fifth anniversary of the Iraq invasion was commemorated on March 19, during which US President George W Bush reaffirmed that the war is “a fight America can and must win''.
