Baghdad: The Iraqi national tennis team coach and two players have been shot dead in Baghdad, reportedly for wearing shorts, said an Iraqi Olympic official.
Coach Hussein Ahmed Rashid and players Nasser Ali Hatem and Wissam Adel Auda were murdered just days after militants issued a warning forbidding the wearing of shorts.
The men were killed outside the coach's house in Baghdad's southern Al Saidiyah area on Thursday.
A witness said the men had returned from a dry cleaners when gunmen stopped their car and asked them to get out. The gunmen then opened fire and deposited the bodies onto the ground before stealing the car.
