Baghdad: Former Iraqi vice-president Taha Yassin Ramadan has lost his appeal against the death sentence.
He had originally been convicted, along with Saddam Hussain, over the killing of 148 Shiites in the town of Dujail in the 1980s.
According to Iraqi law, Ramadan will now be put to death within the next 30 days.
He had originally been sentenced to life imprisonment in November 2006, but the Iraq High Tribunal appealed the decision and a death sentence was handed down on February 12.
Judge Munir Haddad confirmed that: "All the members of the appeals court ratified the death sentence on Taha Yassin Ramadan."
