Baghdad: Iraqi security forces found a mass grave of about 50 bodies, during a hunt for Al Qaida militants north of Baghdad on Tuesday. Some of the bodies were badly decomposed while others appear to have been killed more recently, police said.
Police discovered the grave after a raid at an Al Qaida safehouse near Samarra where they found 10 people kidnapped from a nearby town. Police said information from some of the people freed from that house led to the discovery of the grave nearby.
Local families identified some of those buried in the grave.
Three car bombs were also found in the area.
