Iraqi parliament plans November 26 vote on Iraqi-US security pact
Iraq's parliament will vote on a security deal with the US that would allow US troops to stay in Iraq until 2011.
Baghdad: Iraq's parliament will vote on a security deal with the US that would allow US troops to stay in Iraq until 2011.
Sunni Muslim lawmaker Adnan Pachachi confirmed the date for the parliament vote for the deal, which must be ratified by the parliament.
The outcome of the vote is unclear, Pachachi said. "The positions of various groups keep on shifting and changing so it's not easy to predict really."
Iraqi leaders have been divided over when the 152,000 US troops should leave. The United Nations mandate authorising the US forces expires on December 31.
