Baghdad: Iraqi officials say an interior ministry brigadier was killed in a drive-by shooting in western Baghdad on Sunday.
Gunmen killed Brig. Adel Abbas and his driver as they drove to work Sunday morning, a police officer and an interior ministry official.
They were speaking on condition of anonymity because they are not authorised to speak to the media.
Abbas worked in the ministry's criminal investigation department.
In another attack, police and hospital officials say a finance ministry director was seriously wounded when a bomb exploded in his car, also in western Baghdad.
