Baghdad: Gunmen fired at the convoy of Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki, injuring one guard, in a southern suburb of the capital on Sunday.
Al Maliki was not in the convoy at the time, as it travelled in Baghdad's Rasheed district.
US military and Iraqi forces detained one person and confiscated two weapons, sources said.
The Iraqi Ministry of Defence has launched an investigation into the incident.
The attack comes one day after Al Maliki told US President George W. Bush that he is not “America's man in Iraq'' and that he answers first to the Iraqi government and people.
