Baghdad: The US military said on Tuesday it killed four Al Qaida militants in a raid in Iraq's northern city of Mosul.
However, the Iraqi police said the four killed were not insurgents but were civilians. "As far as we are concerned, they were not militants," a source told Reuters.
The US military said in a statement it had killed four "terrorists", one of whom it said was armed with a pistol, and arrested another 10 suspects.
A funeral procession was held for those killed and about 400 angry demonstrators marched through the streets shouting "Down, down with America," an eyewitness said.
