Tehran: Iran has warned it is reviewing its ties with Britain and says the future of those relations will be determined based on Iranian national interests.

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki says the ties have been under detailed scrutiny and a "magnifying glass" over the past six months.

Mottaki's warning was carried by state television on Monday. He did not elaborate.

Iran has repeatedly said it plans to reconsider relations with Britain, which it accuses of fomenting - along with other Western nations - the post election turmoil that has shaken the Gulf country.

London denies the charge and condemns the fierce government crackdown on the opposition following the disputed June presidential election.
