Tehran: Iran has appointed a new ambassador for the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec).
Mohammad Ali Khatibi, former deputy director at the National Iranian Oil Company, replaced Hossein Kazempour Ardebili.
Ardebili reportedly resigned last week after 25 years of service as Opec ambassador.
In a letter carried by news service Shana on Sunday, Oil Minister Gholam Hossein Nozari said Khatibi was appointed because of his "experience and commitment in issues related to Opec and oil international market."
