Cairo: The Arab League expressed concern on Wednesday over the International Criminal Court's charges of genocide against Sudan President Omar Al Bashir.
The League said the charges may not have been well thought out, adding that it was concerned about repercussions.
"The situation is very serious and very dangerous," Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa told reporters.
"At the same time, we are not convinced that the steps taken (by) the criminal court were well considered," he said.
The ICC prosecutor asked for an arrest warrant against Bashir on Monday, accusing him of running a campaign of genocide that has killed 35,000 people in Sudan's western Darfur region.
Arab foreign ministers will hold emergency talks in Cairo on Saturday to discuss the situation.
