Pirates seize German ship near Somalia

Nairobi: A German-owned ship was hijacked in the pirate-infested waters between Somalia and Yemen on Saturday, the US Navy said.

US Navy spokesman Lt. Nathan Christensen said pirates seized the cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden, southeast of the coastal Yemeni city of Muqalla.

The ship, the Motor Vessel Patriot, is Maltese flagged. There were no immediate details about the crew members.
