Ramallah: The Higher Follow-Up Committee for Palestinians citizens of Israel has decided to establish a fund to rebuild the buildings that Israeli authorities have demolished inside the Green Line, on territory claimed by the Israeli regime. The committee declared a general strike next Tuesday to protest about the increasing number of demolitions in Palestinian communities in these areas.

“This will be the answer of the Palestinians [citizens of Israel] to the frequent Israeli demolitions of houses under the excuse that they did not have a building licence,” said the committee in a statement. “A general strike that will prevail [inside the Green Line] will be observed on April 28 to show the Israeli government the Palestinian rejection of the Israeli demolishment policies.”

The committee said that the unprecedented Israeli campaign to demolish Palestinian citizens’ houses had been unbearable recently.

The committee also decided to make regular and scheduled visits to Palestinian schools in Israel to raise awareness among Palestinian children about the Israeli policy of demolishing houses and forcibly expelling their owners.

On Wednesday Israeli bulldozers demolished five houses in the village of Dahmash near Lod as Israeli police claimed the owners did not hold building licences. The committee said that even though the cases had been under review in the Israeli courts, the Israeli police did not allow the court to pass a verdict and demolished the houses.

The committee decided to rebuild the five houses in response to the brutal action.
