Ramallah: A Jewish colonist woman who insulted the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) on tape and stated to a crowd of Palestinian Murabiteen in Al Haram Al Sharif that “Mohammad is a pig” has been given heroic treatment in Israeli media.

Avia Morris, 20, was one of the hundreds of Jewish colonists to raid Al Haram Al Sharif in the last two days to mark the Jewish feast of Tisha B’Av.

When confronted by a group of Palestinian women who chanted “Allah Akbar” (God is the Greatest), Morris responded by insulting Prophet Mohmmad (PBUH). The incident was captured on film and caused several demonstrations in occupied East Jerusalem, particularly at Al Magharebah Gate of Al Haram Al Sharif.

Although the Israeli police and media admitted that Morris provoked the entire riot, she was given hero’s welcome. Palestinians say this demonstrates Israeli leniancy towards those who incite riots and insult Muslim figures.

Speaking on Israeli media channels, Morris said she did not regret her insult and said she would do it again.

Former head of Al Aqsa mosque, Shaikh Najeh Bakeerat, said the woman’s insult was not an impromptu remark but actually an organised ideology which has began to manifest into hate speech through occupied Jerusalem.

“The woman’s insult shows her ignorance, hatred and barbarism,” he told Gulf News.

Israeli president Reuven Rivlin said he would no longer tolerate any restrictions to Jews to perform prayer at Al Haram Al Sharif and inside the Al Aqsa mosque.
