Ramallah: The Israeli regime is expected to bar the broadcasting of the Muslim call to prayer in 1948 areas on Sunday, after the proposed bill is discussed in Israeli Knesset.

Israelis have complained that the call to prayer is a nuisance, but Palestinians say its just another racist Israeli law to limit their freedom of expression and suppress their Muslim identity.

Palestinians in Occupied Jerusalem also complain that the Israeli regime is trying to erase all Palestinian and Muslim identity from the holy city.

They fear that if the law is passed in the Knesset, it could also be applied to Palestinian mosques in Occupied Jerusalem.

Already, Al Haram Al Sharif, the third most holy site in Islam, has experienced daily Jewish raids on its premises.

Under a status-quo agreement, Jews are allowed to visit the holy Muslim site, but not pray there.

The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Shaikh Mohammad Hussain has condemned the move saying it contradicted international law.

“It does not have the right to impose its laws in occupied East Jerusalem,” he said.

“Banning the call to prayer is a large-scale violation of Muslim freedom of worship and the teachings of all religions,” he said.
