Occupied Jerusalem: Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian man after he opened fire at soldiers at a military checkpoint in the West Bank on Friday, the regime’s army claimed.

According to the occupation military, a car approached the checkpoint in the occupied Jordan Valley and a fighter from inside the car opened fire at the soldiers. The army said soldiers “returned fire”, killing the man. No soldiers were wounded in the incident.

The Israeli military provided no other details on the identity of the attacker beyond saying that he was Palestinian. Officials in the West Bank had no immediate details and no militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The fighter’s body remained on the side of the road at the scene of the shooting, and a military ambulance took the body away hours later.

The Jordan Valley is an area in the West Bank under Israeli occupation, bordering Jordan.
