Ramallah: Israel has formed a military force made up of women to confront and arrest the increasing numbers of Palestinian women Murabiteen in Al Haram Al Sharif of the occupied East Jerusalem.
Sources in the holy city said that the Israeli escalation is meant to silence the shouts of the Palestinian women when Israeli colonists raid Al Aqsa Mosque and Al Haram Al Sharif in general.
“Allah Akbar (God is the Greatest) is the only weapon Al Murabiteen have during the Israeli raids to Al Haram Al Sharif. Palestinian God praising is totally forbidden in Al Aqsa Mosque as Israelis claim the shouting distracts the colonists,” sources told Gulf News.
In the past couple of weeks, the number of women Murabiteen was estimated to be around 1,100 strong.
After Israeli restrictions on men made it difficult to join Al Murabiteen, the shortage was met by women who come from the occupied East Jerusalem itself, the West Bank and the 1948 areas.
When these Palestinian women are at Al Haram Al Sharif, they start shouting “Allah Akbar” when they spot Israeli colonists.
The Israeli colonists have repeatedly complained about the shouting and have demanded those women be removed from the site.
The sources said that the unit of Israeli women is armed and targets the veils of the Palestinian women Murabiteen, seeking to remove them.
